Make a Difference

Volunteer Opportunities

Mujeres Latinas en Accion is always looking for volunteers to help us empower Latinas and their families across all of our programs. Volunteer opportunities vary across our programs in terms of time commitment and qualifications, but all volunteers will gain knowledge and experience in supporting the Latin@ community.  All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and must be fluent in English and Spanish

Domestic Violence Program (DV)
DV program volunteers provide direct client services to survivors affected by domestic violence and may participate in community outreach events to increase community awareness on domestic violence. All volunteers must complete the Illinois 42 hr. Domestic Violence Training or have completed it..

Sexual Assault Program (SA) SA program volunteers provide direct services to survivors affected by sexual assault, primarily as medical advocates. They may also participate in community outreach events to increase awareness on sexual assault. All volunteers must complete the 42 hr. Sexual Assault Training or have completed it. Additionally, volunteers must have flexibility in regards to times as they will be on call after hours

Empresarias del Futuro Program (EDF) EDF volunteers support program staff through administrative assistance and data collection. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to engage in advocacy and outreach efforts on behalf of the program. Computer skills and ability to use Office Word , Power Point, Publisher and Excel are required, along with commitment to work at least three months with the EDF program and volunteer at least once a week For more information and/or an application, please contact Claudia Alcantara at calcantara@mujereslat.org.

Parent Support
Parent Support volunteers are trained to ensure the safety of the children while facilitating the supervised parenting time and complete observation reports afterwards. Volunteers must have the ability to work late afternoons and/or Saturday and be committed to a consistent schedule.

Community Engagement & Mobilization (CEM)
CEM volunteers will participate in different advocacy coalitions and campaigns in the topics of: immigration, women’s health, gender-based violence, and economic justice . Family Engagement will provide participants with opportunities to create change by getting involve in grassroots movements or projects.
