Mujeres Latinas en Accion is a non-profit, community-based organization in Chicago. Its mission is to empower their fellow Latinas by offering services that reflect their values and cultures and by advocating on issues that matter to Latinas.

Started in 1973 in the Pilsen neighborhood, Mujeres was the first social service agency in Illinois run by Latinas that addressed the needs of Latinas.

“Let’s never forget our roots and let’s never stop speaking out on behalf of our community!” – Mujeres founder the late Maria Mangual in July 2006

Latinas turn to Mujeres for a safe environment that addresses issues of health, safety, culture, financial security and women’s rights with a variety of programs – all in their first language of Spanish.

Mujeres advocates for the rights of Latinas with local government and institutions so these organizations become more sensitive and capable of serving Latinas and their families.
