History For many years Mujeres provided supervision of children only when parents were participating in groups. The service was randomly provided by volunteers, or a stipend from petty cash was paid to one of the neighbors. In 1988, the agency hired a full-time worker and the service become available to all clients. The Childcare personnel have developed age appropriate activities that are culturally proficient. Target population Children between the ages of 8 months to 12 years old whose parents are participating in group sessions or who are receiving services in one of the agency's programs. Services Supervision of children while parent/guardian is receiving services. Children are exposed to structured activities that educate about peace, good health, cooperative play and promote academic success.

Staff composition One full time Supervisor and four part-time Child Care Workers. Trends There are more boys than girls accessing the childcare service. Most of the participants enrolled have siblings that are also enrolled. Many of the children face health problems such as asthma and allergies. |
